RIVERSCHOOL

RIVERSCHOOL

Suitable for:Holiday Clubs. School Groups. Youth Camps. 7-14 years

Its crazy how much kids love Riverschool!   Each day we paddle by giant canoe to our woodland basecamp for activities, free-play, fun, friendship and adventure, or we journey out to explore the Dart estuary.

We normally gather at The Quay, Stoke Gabriel, but sometimes it is Tuckenhay or Totnes depending on the tides (so check your booking details carefully).

There are three types of Riverschool programmes available this summer.

1. HAF-Funded Holiday Club.  Places are free to young people from within Devon County Council (not Torbay Council, sorry) and with a valid Free School Meals eligibilty code.

Bookings are for one of these five day blocks (individual day bookings are not available), 10.30am – 3.30pm

  • Monday 5 to Friday 9 August 2024
  • Monday 12 to Friday 16 August 2024
  • Monday 19 to Friday 23 August 2024

Please appy via the application form by clicking here.   Please don't complete the form without a Free School Meals or Extended Criteria eligiblity code.

For more infomation about this funded programme and the eligibility criteria, please click here.

NB:  The funders now stipulate that the holiday club is primarily for those in receipt of Free School Meals.  If there are spaces left come the end of July we will open it open to children with EHCPs and extended criteria.

2. Summer Holiday Club.  Open to anyone age 7-14 (*Please note we may need to limit the number of 7-9 year olds in favour of older children to be sure we have sufficient weight and paddle power to operate the canoes)

  • Tuesday 27/08, 1000-1600, Stoke Gabriel
  • Wednesday 28/08, 1000-1600, Stoke Gabriel
  • Thursday 29/08, 1000-1600, Stoke Gabriel

Our plan for these three days is to add a bit more paddling in small craft (kayaks etc) than we have done before, so you can build on your paddling skills and have more time on the water, if you want to.

  • £45 per child per day
  • £40 for multiple days and siblings
  • £40 per child for those on Universal Credit or eligible for Free School Meals
  • £100 per child if booking a place for three consecutive days in the same week

To book, please complete the relevant 'Scheduled Trips' below.   Please note you need to book each day seperately.   On submission of your booking you will be asked to complete an additional form.    You only need to complete this form once if you are booking for multiple days at the same time.  (We haven't been able to work out how to ask our booking system to not ask you do it several times!).

You will receive a payment request once we have checked and confirmed your booking.

3. School trips, Youth groups, overnight camps and private birthday parties, please contact: hello@canoeadventures.co.uk or 07706 343744; schools/youth groups click here.

RIVERSCHOOL is an Ofsted registered childcare provider (Registration / Reference number 27317450)

Our aim is to be fully inclusive and open to everyone but, given the nature of our activities, please note we may need to limit numbers of very small children so that we have enough paddlers to operate our canoes safely, or some SEN children if we can't satisfy the staffing levels that maybe needed to ensure a safe environment.

Life Skills, Fun and Adventure on the River Dart Estuary

Its like mixing the best of forest school, bushcraft and river skills, with the magic of the River Dart estuary and the Canoe Adventures spirit of fun and adventure.

Child-led learning and exploration happens freely and naturally, with distinct learning outcomes.
We support learning, discovery and play on and off the water, developing resilience for today’s rapidly changing world.

Each session will have a different theme with activities including campfire building and cooking, knife skills, wild swimming, free play and exploration and time to just hang out by the river.

An exciting opportunity to explore the River Dart by canoe, learn bushcraft skills and gain river knowledge.

A fun and safe experience for all children.

Led by Canoe Adventures Director, qualified forest school leader, bushcraft instructor and youth mentor, Hugh Clifford.
