Hal is most likely to be the voice at the end of the phone when you're arranging your adventure. He grew up falling in and out of boats on the River Dart and discovered the joy of sitting at the back of a boat with a paddle whilst drifting down the Rio Beni, a Bolivian branch of the Amazon, where he was stranded and acquired a 'dugout' from the locals to continue his journey.
Hal is from a farming family with land bordering the river and is currently working on diversification plans that include restoring nature as part of the River Dart Catchment. His other work includes organising and leading study programmes and events through his company, Futurebound.
